Procedural 3D voxel
sandbox engine.

An infinite 3D voxel sandbox engine built with WebGL and Three.js. Generates infinite terrain chunks using Perlin noise algorithms and octree collision maps.

Overview & Setup

Voxel World is a performant technical demonstration of procedural 3D world building running fully inside the browser. World chunks compile dynamically inside web workers, enabling a stable 60 FPS.

Implements fractional Brownian motion (fBm) Perlin noise for terrain heights, custom octree coordinate partition grids for raycasted block mine/build triggers, and simple local block storage.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1

Launch Voxel Canvas

Click "Play Game Now" to start the procedural rendering pipeline in the overlay modal.

2

Navigate Terrain

Use W, A, S, D keys to walk, Space to jump, and mouse pointer to look around.

3

Mine & Build Blocks

Left-click to break blocks and Right-click to place blocks. Scroll the mouse wheel to select blocks.

WebGL Procedural Generation & Meshing

Perlin Height Generator

Compiles heightmaps in web workers to generate mountains, valleys, and caves smoothly.

Voxel Collision Grid

Optimized octree partitioning coordinates to map dynamic raycasts and collisions at 60 FPS.

Web Worker Meshing

Frees browser UI frame loops by compiling chunks asynchronously inside dedicated web workers.
